Apple and Snow Leopard: A sick kitten rather than a Leopard

More than a post, this is intended as a recommendation for all users who entrust their work to the computer with the apple: If you intend to buy Snow Leopard, the new operating system released in recent days, simply

non-lo-do!

Too many bugs reported by many, and too serious for those who must deliver jobs and export-based Adobe, or many other third-party applications. Those who, like us, we ordered the longed-dvd driven by the mirage of a system that lightens the load of some 30 gigabytes, and that usually takes fewer resources than the previous Leopard, they risk a bitter surprise: our IMac
files, meaning that Adobe programs crash, when the rescue. We also found crash on Firefox and Safari.
Trusting in the historical ability of Apple OS to repair itself, we have taken all procedures post-update: Delete files of the programs preferences, repaired permissions, reset the user cache, removing third-party programs that affect the system, reset the basic settings but without results
. On the official forums apple as we discover that a furious tide of designers and engineers have the same problem, for which, believe it, when there is no workaround. The most worrying thing is the deafening silence of Apple and Adobe
that does not officially speak on the subject, affidando al blog personale di alcuni manager poche informazioni ufficiose e laconiche come quelle che trovate sul blog di John Nack :
We're continuing to work with Apple to diagnose & troubleshoot issues that customers report when running Photoshop CS3 and CS4 on Snow Leopard. At the moment we're aware of a couple of problems: Switching to the Menlo font (new in Snow Leopard) in Photoshop can cause Photoshop to crash. The simplest option is to avoid selecting and using Menlo in Photoshop.
A bug can cause Photoshop & other applications to crash, particularly during Open and Save operations. We think this problem is the root of the instability David Pogue mentioned the other day. Dragging an image from another application (e.g. Safari) window to the Photoshop application icon in the OS X Dock doesn't open the image.

Note that the last two problems are not unique to Photoshop or to Adobe applications. We're working with Apple to get these problems fixed as quickly as possible. Photoshop QE team members

In sintesi, e ripescando le poche informazioni ottenute dai forum:
  • Se installate Snow Leopard i programmi Adobe
"potrebbero"
    chiudersi durante il salvataggio.
  • We say "may" because the problem is found only on some models of Mac

There is a list of Mac "good" but it seems absurd to hold up better than the older computers. We tested three systems on Snow Leopard and the problem has emerged on 'iMac latest purchase (May 09). programs crash on certain memory address, perhaps related to Open GL video memory that you can try to disable in the meantime.

The problem can be solved by a mysterious update that Apple has not announced.
  1. Update long in coming because we are still at the stage where Adobe Apple and blame each other.
  2. And here are some solutions that seem to work empirically:
  3. Disable Open GL support for enhanced preference / performance
  4. Photoshop. In Leopard this feature was not supported, do not miss it.

  5. Try installing Rosetta, the interpreter of Universal applications for compatibility. Snow Leopard to get on if we install programs such as Office for Mac
  6. We have solved all the problems of crash (hopefully) creating a new user with Administrator privileges and transferring all the files (but not the settings) to the user good
  7. luck.
not receive a check from Adobe, but the simple fact that until recently these programs work well enough to say that Apple has not messed bad warning that those who use Adobe (99% of those with Apple) would do better to wait before Snow Leopard to install.
Today we like many others, we are forced to waste more time to do a backup and reinstall the old Leopard, while it looks like Snow alarmingly to the infamous Windows ME, considered the worst OS in history information.
